FIT Program 9/28/11

CV SL Summit Jan 12-14 2012
Issue: #1September/2011

Dear Member,

Welcome to our "new" look! We are hoping to bring current news to you via email.  We hope you will find it useful not only for your clinical updates but also for the "business" of cardiology. Let us know how we can make it better for you - tell us what you need.

Our team at CMI is very pleased to have been chosen to work with this exceptional chapter and hope our partnership will allow us to help you and your practices continue to transform the delivery of cardiovascular care.

We are considering adding an on line recruitment link. Using our collective networking we can assist in "matching" fellows to open positions in Illinois - let us know what you think.

We look forward to hearing from you - Nancy Mueller is your account executive -- please email her with suggestions or comments at nmueller@cardiacmgmt.com

Physician Fee Schedule

ACC national recently posted comments to the 2012 fee schedule.  This schedule was weighted heavily on quality reporting and the shift from process measures to outcome measures.  Bundling of codes continues - so stay tuned for final determinations on pacemaker and ICD implants.  The final rule will be critical to all our practices and we will let you know once the final rule is posted.  Click Here to access the link for the comment letter.

Public Reporting
 Public reporting is not new - but the depth and scope is increasing - know what is on line about you

A new Illinois law, similar to provisions in previous legislation that were declared unconstitutional, requires that wide-ranging information about all physicians and surgeons be made available for public inspection on a Web site.

The Patients' Right to Know Act, which went into effect immediately when it was signed recently by Gov. Pat Quinn, requires the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to make physician profiles available for public inspection, including on an online database.

The profiles are being updated now and will be posted soon.  It will include the following:

· the full name of the physician;
· any criminal convictions for felonies and Class A misdemeanors;
· any disciplinary action within the most recent 5 years;
· name of medical schools attended and date of attendance and graduation;
· specialty board certification;
· the number of years in practice and locations; and
· names of hospitals where the physician has privileges

In addition the Physician Compare website has information on you -- and will continue to add to it.  For 2011 it includes whether or not you participated in PQRI/PQRS.  Check yours for accuracy now!
